Date Added: April 18, 2009 11:31:09 PM

No matter what age your child is, getting creative is always fun! By joining in, you not only get to spend quality time with your child but assist in the development of their artistic side, keeping them busy and teaching them to be creative and resourceful. Eventually, simple arts and crafts will lead to school projects and more. This is a bonding time with your child that they will cherish for life. Ideas for Arts And CraftsWhen you sit down to do crafty fun, it does not have to be elaborate, it just has to be fun! Here are some ideas to get you started:

1. Make arts and crafts time a regular event in your weekly schedule. Do it every weekend or on a specific day of the week. By doing this, your child will look forward to it.

2. Craft Hats: Find some old hats lying around the house, or even inexpensive foam hats found at any craft store. Decorate them to a theme or with younger children with feathers and beads. Creating extravagant and silly hats is fun to children, and they will want to wear them around the house for weeks.

3. Co-ordinate arts and crafts with holidays. This is the best time to do crafts. You can make decorations for the holidays and hang them around the house. Your children will be so proud of their creations and it's a great way to make them feel special.

4. Painting: Make sure you cover up! This is also a fun way to get the child's creative juices flowing! Make sure you put an old oversized shirt on your child that will cover just about all of them. By doing this, they can go to town and not have to worry about getting to messy. Get a giant piece of white paper for extreme fun!

5. Clay: If you have an older child, clay building is also fun. On the market, you can get clay that dries in the air and water. This is a great way to get older kids involved because it is a neat idea and not so "childish".

6. Get a big paper bag from your local grocery store. Decorate it up to resemble a person or animal. For example, you can make the bag look like a monkey. The idea is to make the bag part of the body where if falls. So, if you were making a monkey, you could decorate it to have hair, a tail and other monkey features! Get creative - it really is all about fun. There are so many ideas that can be altered, expanded on and done over and over again. There is no limit to the fun you can have with craft activities with your child.
