A stylish capelet compliments our looks. And who doesn't want that? Definitely we all want it. It's also known as a cape or a collar and it's possible to design your own using your favorite yarn. There are different patterns for making capelets and you can vary the length or add collar to any capelet for a different type or style. Lets take a look of a simple pattern for hand knit capelets. First you'll need a circular needle and 20 gram balls of mohair yarn. You'll have to knit from neck to hem down and if you want a collar capelet then you can attach roll collar of about 1.5". Three lengths i.e. neck opening, shoulder width and front length have to be measured first when designing. Let now see the main steps of knitting a caplet. Using a circular needle knit from the neck to hem in down ward direction. A cape collar is optional and you can attach one around the top of about 15". Now close it tightly with a chord and stitch the ending of the edge, front and border. Level front and back by shaping near the border. Raise the back of the neck with similar shaping and according to your body. To give pattern to your capelet enter your stitch as well as row gauge. The pattern has around 8 increased rays and 2shoulder darts. On the back side knit around 4 decreased rays and place 10 stitch markers to locate them. Do the same on front side an when knitting increase one stitch for each marker for every 6 rows. When your capelet is enough to cover your shoulders, then stop lengthening it further. Knit the border sides and it's ready for use. Peter Gitundu Researches And Reports On Knitting. For More Information on Knitting Capelet Pattern, Visit His Site at KNITTING CAPELET PATTERN.
