Today more women are getting interested in this activity and though it seems boring, it's interesting once you get into it. There are different patterns and designs for knitting. Usually knit stitch or purl stitch is used. Read on for some instructions. Knit stitch; Hold the knitting needle with the cast on stitches in your left hand, push the tip of the right needle in middle of the first and second stitch. Let the needle point to the right which will feed the point in the course of first stitch by keeping it under the left needle. Meanwhile, the yarn should be at the back of the work. Now loop the yarn around the right needle such that it comes from the back to the front by resting the yarn in between the needles. Pick up the yarn on the end of the right needle and pull it through the first stitch to the front. Slip off the old stitch from left needle so that the new stitch would be on the right needle. Keep the yarn swathe over right forefinger to help you keep it on back side. Keep knitting until all the stitches on the right needle. Once done, turn the right needle, hold it with your left hand, and repeat the same steps for the second row. In purl stitch, the needle with the cast on stitches must be in your left hand and the yarn hanging in front. Push the tip of right needle in to front of first stitch in right to left direction. Now enclose the yarn around right needle by crossing two needles so that it hangs in front. Slide right needle downward and back by taking new loop of the yarn from front to back through old stitch.
